| Lissa Zala, BA, MEd, wanted
to be informed about perimenopause as she began to experience
it, to know what it was all about and what she could expect
to happen. The knowledge she gained helped in constructing a
four-week workshop she delivered with Andrea through the local
Women's Health Program. She used the experience of delivering
the workshop to co-author the book and video 'Transitions Through
the Perimenopausal Years' with Andrea and Jerilynn. |

Andrea Swan, RN, BScN started
her career in women's health as one of the first Lamaze childbirth
instructors in Canada and worked with new mothers as a La Leche
League advisor. She used these early experiences as the basis
for developing a menopause program to assist women in her community.
Her collaboration with Lissa and then Jerilynn resulted in these
final contributions to women's health. |

| Jerilynn C Prior, BA, MD,
FRCPC, is an internationally renowned University of British
Columbia professor and endocrinologist with many published articles
about ovarian hormones and their effects on women’s experiences
and health. Her own experience of perimenopause, as well as
those of her patients and friends, helped Jerilynn to develop
a method of charting personal daily experiences of perimenopause.
This chart is a way of keeping track of changes and helps to
show cycles and patterns in a woman’s personal journey:
what is happening, what to expect, how far along on personal
transition you are. Jerilynn has spoken on perimenopause in
small and large groups. |
