and we suggest that you use the same criteria for judging the material
as you would for considering therapies. A significant amount of research
is now being carried out in this area of women's health; there will
no doubt continue to be a flood of material. Know yourself and then

on a broad range of topics. A reliable source of herbal and alternative
approaches to health.

This bi-monthly newsletter has been a godsend to many women over
the last 10 years. It provides up-to-date information regarding
perimenopause and menopause, as well as acting as a forum for information
sharing.

A good book on this subject by someone who is a well-respected researcher
in this area.
Hysterectomy: Before and After, Winifred B. Cutler, Harper
and Row, NY, 1988. Good science and good advice from a PhD researcher.
Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book, Susan Love, Random House,
New York, 1995.
This is considered to be the best publication on all aspects of
breast health.
Dr. Susan Love’s Menopause and Hormone Book, Random
House, New York, 2003. Contains very up-to-date information, lots
of references and resources.
Menopause and Emotions, Lafern Page, Primavera Press,
Vancouver, 1996.
Deals very effectively with this often overlooked aspect of the
perimenopausal journey. May be available only from libraries.
The Greatest Experiment Ever Performed on Women: Exploding
the Estrogen Myth, Barbara Seaman, 2003. A lively historical
account of the early birth control pill and a scathing critique
of the notion of hormone “replacement”.
